The obverse of the Medal “For the Defence of Stalingrad” features a depiction of a group of advancing Soviet soldiers with rifles against the background of a waving banner. At the top is the inscription “FOR THE DEFENCE OF STALINGRAD.”
On the reverse of the medal are Hammer and Sickle and the motto, "For our Soviet motherland".
